The OSPAR Convention guides international cooperation on the protection of the marine environment in the North-East Atlantic. It was signed in 1992 and is managed by the OSPAR Commission, made up of representatives from 15 nations. The deep-sea habitats presented here all feature in the 2004 Initial OSPAR list of threatened and/or declining species and habitats.
